Overview
We are looking for a permanent Counter Sales to join our Chepstow Builders Merchants Branch.
The successful individual will be responsible for providing excellent customer service whilst serving customers in person and on the phone.

We are the largest independent builders’ merchant in South East Wales.
Hours:
42 hours per week to be worked between our opening hours 7:30am – 4:30pm Monday to Friday and to work one in two Saturday mornings (8:00am – 12:00pm).
Key responsibilities
- Counter sales and related administration.
- Booking goods in and out, using point-of-sale terminal.
- Customer service, dealing with customers in person and on the phone.
- Merchandising and price labelling.
- Stock management.
- The role requires excellent selling skills, customer service and team-work skills with an understanding of building materials, stock control, orders, deliveries and pricing.
- Computerised point-of-sale training will be given.

Essential skills & experience
- Building material knowledge.
- GCSE Maths (minimum grade C) and English Language with good numeracy and keyboard skills.
- Confident communicator with proven team work skills.
- Naturally tidy and organised.
- Willingness to engage with customers and provide good customer service.
- Ability to follow instructions and work unsupervised.
- Reliable, industrious, adaptable and quick to grasp new concepts.
- Manual handling up to 25kg.
- Good knowledge of building materials and their usage.
Desirable skills & experience
An interest in sales and in the construction industry.
